2026 Crescendo – An Annual Celebration of Art & Culture

The Office of Cultural Affairs for the Town of Hilton Head Island and the Arts Council of Hilton Head will hold its tenth Annual Crescendo Celebration of Arts & Culture this year.

This regional event, organized in honor of October’s National Arts and Humanities month, highlights, and showcases the vast array of arts, culture and history organizations, individual artists, performers, and authors residing and working on Hilton Head Island.

Previous Crescendo celebrations have featured more than 100 unique arts and cultural programs, concerts, theatrical productions, museum and gallery exhibits, lectures, poetry readings, dance performances, historical tours, hands-on arts experiences, and educational offerings which are estimated to attract more than 10,000 people from all over the United States, Canada and parts of Europe.

Crescendo Kickoff Party – Shelter Cove Community Park – Wednesday, Oct. 14 – 5 – 7 PM – FEATURING Mark Rapp and the Soda City Band, local performers, local art, organizations, food and beverages (Supported in part by a grant from South Arts in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts and the South Carolina Arts Commission)

Crescendo Songwriter Show– Lowcountry Celebration Park – Friday, Oct. 23 – 6 – 8 PM – FREE concert by Eric Reid & The Hebron Road Ramblers with special guests Matt Eckstine & Nick Poulin

Symphony Under the Stars – Lowcountry Celebration Park – Friday, Oct. 16 – 7:30 PM

Hilton Head Island Lantern Parade – South Forest Beach to Lowcountry Celebration Park – Saturday, Nov. 14 – Staging begins at 5 PM, Parade Steps off at 5:45PM from the Alder Lane beach heading north (This project is funded in part by the South Carolina Arts Commission which receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts.)

Theater productions by Arts Center of Coastal Carolina, Lean Ensemble

Visual arts exhibitions at the Coastal Discovery Museum, Art League Gallery, Art League Academy, and Island Recreation Center

Nutcracker, presented by the Hilton Head Dance Theater

Native Americans in the Revolutionary War – Oct. 19

Poetry and Patron Series with the Island Writers’ Network – Oct. 21, 28 and Nov. 4

Hands on programming and activities around the island

Historical tours and presentations with the Heritage Library, Coastal Discovery Museum, Historic Mitchelville Freedom Park, Gullah Museum, and others

Family Friendly activities and arts experiences

Visit Hilton Head Island’s public art collection

Music, cultural, and food festivals including Italian Heritage Festival and Gullah Food Festival

Lantern making workshops around town

Concert for the Kids with Nick Poulin – Wed. Oct. 21 – Sponsored by the Children’s Center

Rock-n-Ribs – Sun. Oct. 18 – Musical Acts Cowboy Mouth and Cranford Hollow; Local and Regional Pitmasters

National Arts and Humanities Month, first launched 30 years ago by Americans for the Arts, includes these goals: Focus on access to the arts at local, state and national levels, Encouraging individuals and organizations to participate in the arts, Allowing governments and businesses to show their support of the arts, and Raising public awareness about the positive impact of the arts and humanities in our communities and lives.
