Join Us for this Exciting Class with Minnesota Based Instructor, Julie Schroeder. Discover and energize your inner artist and loosen up with exciting new watercolor techniques.

This will be a FUN class with watercolor techniques. Using color, texture, layering, expressive mark making, & splattering, we’ll be experimenting with different professional papers.

In this workshop, our main project will be a lovely landscape created with handmade papers on 140lb watercolor paper. We’ll be layering on beautiful rich color in a wet into wet beginning with a special technique combining papers layered onto the watercolor paper. This creates a beautiful textured 3-D look!

We will also be doing some smaller pieces exploring a variety of brush techniques. Be prepared to uncover the amazing qualities of watercolor. We will be doing some experimenting with fresh watercolors as well!

Experienced painters as well as those who are new to watercolors will both enjoy this fun and exciting day of exploration of watercolor. This class is perfect for all levels of experience. Come & have some fun, pouring & splattering paint & prepare to be amazed at the outcome.

Julie will provide the fresh paints, paper, containers and boards for a $20 cash supply fee (additional to the registration fee & due the first day of the workshop). Students will still be responsible for bringing some additional items.

NOTE: If you have any questions about the supplies or are just giving watercolor a try and don’t want to spend a lot on supplies, please call me at (651)352-5695, or email me at: brushcolour@yahoo.com. I can either bring a supply kit for you or recommend a more economical way to give it a try.

If you know you will be doing watercolor for a long time, I recommend getting quality materials. They not only make painting a lot more fun, (less struggling), they usually last longer, so in the long-term, cost just about balances out with the cheaper materials.

I recommend Daniel Smith paints sold at Wet Paint or online, or if it’s a specific color you need, If you let me know ahead of time, i can bring an extra tube. I will also have some extra paper for sale at $10 for a 30 inch by 22inch sheet, but please let me know 2 weeks prior to the workshop. If you have questions, please feel free to call!
