Watercolor for Intermediate/Advanced Artists with Chris Dreyer

February 3, 10, 17, 24, 2025

Chris will demonstrate multiple paintings (seascape, floral, & island theme) from beginning to completion. Areas of demonstrations and techniques will include, design, drawing, color, value, washes, glazing, wet in wet, masking, dry brush, lifting out and more.

Chris will guide you through the techniques and help you develop skills needed to produce beautiful watercolor paintings. He will not only tell you how, but also show you!

SKILL LEVEL:
This course is designed for intermediate and advanced level students.

REFUND POLICY:
Ticket purchases to Art League of Hilton Head events are final. Credits or Refunds will not be given for missed or cancelled (by you) classes/workshops.

If a class or workshop is canceled by Art League of Hilton Head a full refund will be given.

Skill Details: This course has been designed for students with at least some watercolor experience.
Materials Included: No materials are included in this class. A list of materials you should bring with you is provided below.
PLEASE BRING:

PAPER:
Arches, Windsor & Newton or similar high quality cold press watercolor paper (block or sheets).

BRUSHES:
1″ Flat brush or larger (used for larger washes), 3/8″ angle brush (used for smaller washes and some detail work), #2 round brush (used for detail work), fan brush

PAINT:
Primary Colors: (Cadmium Yellow, Cadmium Red, Alizarin Crimson, Ultramarine Blue)
Secondary Colors: (Hookers Green, Violet, Orange)
Additional Colors: (Raw Umber, Yellow Ochre, Burnt Sienna, Payne’s Gray)

Note: Paint comes in tubes or cakes. Either is acceptable. I prefer tubes for ease of mixing.

PALETTE:
Many verities are available. I recommend plastic with plenty of compartments for mixing paint.

OTHER ITEMS:
Jar for water, #2 pencil, toothbrush for splatter techniques, paper towels, spray bottle, drawing paper, kneaded eraser
