Step into history and witness the extraordinary life and legacy of Harriet Tubman through the powerful Traveling Exhibit: Harriet Tubman Statue “Journey to Freedom”, hosted by Historic Mitchelville Freedom Park in partnership with Culture HHI. The exhibit is open to the public January 1 through April 30, 2025.
At the heart of the exhibit is the awe-inspiring “Journey to Freedom” sculpture by renowned artist Wesley Wofford, capturing Harriet Tubman in motion as a fearless leader, symbolizing her resilience, courage, and unwavering determination as a conductor on the Underground Railroad.
Ahmad Ward, Executive Director of Historic Mitchelville Freedom Park, reflected on the significance of the statue and exhibit, saying:
“The ‘Journey to Freedom’ exhibit is not just about honoring Harriet Tubman’s heroism; it’s about connecting her story to the spirit of Mitchelville. Tubman’s fight for freedom and equality resonates deeply here, where the legacy of the first self-governed Freedman’s town in America lives on. We are honored to share her story in a way that educates, inspires, and uplifts.”
