The CHRISTIAN TAMBURR Quartet featuring CLINT HOLMES

November 2, 2018 @ 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm

CLINT HOLMES ~ GRAMMY® nominee, legendary singer, songwriter, entertainer
CLINT HOLMES ~ Like a painter with a blank canvas, he makes every performance an original. His powerful voice and magnetic stage presence embrace the upbeat side of life. When Clint is on stage, anything can happen, and usually does.
Clint Holmes is more than just a great singer. He is a consummate entertainer, performer, recording artist, and one of the country’s finest vocalists. Whether he is singing selections from the Great American Songbook, contemporary classics, or stirring original pieces, every performance is a one-of-a-kind mesmerizing and unforgettable experience. His new release titled “Rendezvous” is a star-studded jazz collective and was recently honored with TWO GRAMMY® Nominations for the tracks “Every Time We Say Goodbye” with Jane Monheit and “There’s A Boat That’s Leavin’ Soon” with Dee Dee Bridgewater. Produced by eight-time GRAMMY® winner Gregg Field.
Holmes, best known for his silky vocal stylings, has also honed his many other talents, which include dancing and a warm comedic touch. Perhaps Clint picked up that comedy know-how from the ever-popular Don Rickles, with whom he shared a stage. “I learned a lot from Don as he was very generous with me when I opened for him”, said Holmes. “He never held me back or limited my time on stage. I particularly learned a jazz comedian riffling style from him.”
The son of an African-American jazz musician and a classically-trained British opera singer, Clint Holmes was raised with the best of two musical worlds. Blessed with a powerful tenor voice, magnetic stage presence, and a charming comedic streak, Holmes makes every performance unforgettable. His 40-plus year career has taken him to the top of the charts, to concert halls, on TV screens, and also cemented his legacy as a veritable Las Vegas institution.
Through the years, Holmes has amassed a resume full of wonderfully diverse experiences. His big break came in 1972 when he released “Playground In My Mind,” a song that stayed for 23 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In 1986 to 1988, he served as Joan Rivers’ sidekick and announcer on FOX’s “The Late Show.” He was also a musical feature and event correspondent for “Entertainment Tonight,” and as the host of his own Emmy Award-winning talk/variety show. As much as he likes the small screen, Holmes freely admits, that he loves nothing more than performing to a live audience.
In recent years, Holmes could be found wowing crowds in Las Vegas. From 2000 to 2006, he headlined at his “Clint Holmes Theater” at Harrah’s – performances from his theater airing as specials on PBS and IN DEMAND. From 2012 through 2016, Holmes was honored to serve as the Artist-In-Residence at Cabaret Jazz in the newly-opened Smith Center for the Performing Arts, a world-class performing arts center in Las Vegas, where he performed a new show each month to sell-out crowds. The intervening years saw Holmes performing at such gigs as “To Ella With Love” at the Hollywood Bowl, and writing and performing in several musicals including “Comfortable Shoes,” “Inspired,” “Remembering Bobby Short,” “Just Another Man,” and his latest, “This Thing Called Love,” The Music of Cole Porter and Paul Simon.
Now, in 2017, Holmes is back with a new album, Rendezvous. Produced by eight-time Grammy Award-winner Gregg Field, the sophisticated album offers a diverse playlist that reinterprets modern day and classic pop hits, soulful R&B, theatrical tunes, and numbers culled from the Great American Songbook. Rendezvous features Grammy Award-winners, including Patti Austin, Dee Dee Bridgewater, and Jane Monheit, along with multi-Grammy nominee Ledisi, platinum-selling jazz luminary Dave Koz, and The Count Basie Orchestra.
The new album is winning Holmes praise, something not new to the Sin City veteran. In Las Vegas, Holmes has won numerous accolades for his performances, including “Best All-Around Las Vegas Performer,” and “Favorite Male Las Vegan” by the Las Vegas Review-Journal; “Best Kept Secret,” and “Best Singer” (two years in a row) by Las Vegas Life Magazine; named by Broadway World as “Best Singer” in both New York and Las Vegas in 2015; plus being named Nevada’s “Ambassador of the Arts” in 2015. Holmes has been inducted into the Buffalo Musical Hall of Fame (his hometown), and the Las Vegas Casino Legends Hall of Fame.
Beyond his comfortable tenor, perhaps what has endeared Holmes to the people of Las Vegas is his never-ending spirit of graciousness. He has become involved with several worthwhile causes in the community such as Candlelighters, ROB Reachout, Shadetree, St. Jude’s, and various cultural events. Following a brief battle with cancer, he is currently serving as a spokesman for the American Cancer Society, encouraging people over age 50 to have annual colonoscopies. In December 2005, he launched the Clint Holmes Foundation for the Performing Arts, which benefits children in art and music programs in the Clark County School District. He has also taken a special interest in mentoring young people interested in becoming entertainers by working closely with the Las Vegas Academy of Performing Arts.
Having spent more than 20 years performing, Holmes has served as Joan Rivers’ sidekick and announcer on “The Late Show”, as the musical feature and event correspondent for “Entertainment Tonight”, and as the host of his own Emmy award-winning talk/variety show. Holmes freely admits, though, that he loves nothing more than performing before a live audience. He released a DVD of his live performance at the Clint Holmes Theater at Harrah’s, which debuted nationwide via IN DEMAND on July 7, 2001. In 2006, his PBS special of his Las Vegas act was aired nationwide. PBS filmed three acts in Las Vegas for airing recently and along with Barry Manilow and Andrea Boccelli, Mr. Holmes found himself in great company.
Since moving to Las Vegas, Clint has quickly become a favorite in the Las Vegas community as well as a major star in the entertainment arena. He was selected as “Best Kept Secret” by Las Vegas Life Magazine, and “Best Singer” (two years in a row), “Best All-Around Las Vegas Performer” and “Favorite Male Las Vegan” by the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Additionally, he has been the featured performer and host for the “Best of Las Vegas” gala for the Las Vegas Review-Journal and host of the “Las Vegas Life Epicurean Awards”. Clint was inducted into the Buffalo Musical Hall of Fame and into the Casino Legends Hall of Fame. Perhaps what has endeared Clint most to people of Las Vegas is his never-ending spirit of graciousness. In a short time, he has become involved with several worthwhile causes in the community such as Candlelighters, ROB Reachout, Shadetree, St. Jude’s, and various cultural events. Following a brief battle with colon cancer, he is currently serving as a spokesman for the American Cancer Society, encouraging people over age 50 to have annual colonoscopies. He has also taken a special interest in mentoring young people interested in becoming entertainers by working closely with the Las Vegas Academy of Performing Arts. In December 2005, he launched the Clint Holmes Foundation for the Performing Arts, which benefits children in art and music programs in the Clark County School District.
