TASTE OF GULLAH
Saturday, Feb. 12, 2022 * 12noon – 3pm
2022 marks the 26-year history of partnership between the Arts Center and the Gullah community. Taste of Gullah will be held on the Arts Center grounds once again for a celebration of this beautiful culture represented by art, crafts, entertainment, and of course, the main course – Gullah specialties!
Residents and visitors alike will enjoy delicious food with Gullah flair! Two phenomenal food trucks, Melly Mel’s and Chef B’s Eatz, will provide lunch.
The day includes performances by the award-winning Voices of El Shaddai, basketweaving demonstrations by Michael Smalls and Dino Badger, and a special presentation of “Harriet Tubman” orations by Cora Miller. Gullah-inspired crafts will be outside for all ages as well.
Inside the cozy Walter Greer Gallery, browse the Art League of Hilton Head’s annual exhibit and sale of The Arts Ob We People, one of the largest displays of original work by emerging and acclaimed artists representing the life of Gullah people in the Lowcountry.
Also in the Arts Center ticket lobby on Saturday will be the eclectic new and used book selection provided by “An Island Bookshelf!”
