Classical Meets Jazz: The Peer Gynt Suite
Home to so many famous melodies, such as “Morning Mood” and “In the Hall of the Mountain King,” Edvard Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite was composed in 1875, and then re-imagined in a jazz setting by Duke Ellington in 1960.
Come hear the two versions played side-by-side, along with commentary on how Ellington was able to twist the famous classical suite into a set of swinging and soulful jazz.
