Steel Magnolias

“Steel Magnolias,” a beloved comedy-drama that celebrates friendship, resilience, and the strength of women, takes the stage at Sea Glass Stage Company in Coligny Plaza May 1-17. The action is set in Truvy’s beauty shop in a small town in Louisiana, where four longtime friends gather weekly to get their hair done and their spirits lifted. Add in Shelby, the engaged daughter of one of the ladies, plus a shy new stylist who is struggling with a failed marriage, and the scene is set for some mild wedding drama, lots of laughs (often at one another’s expense), and a few surprises.

As the story evolves and reveals a health crisis, the women strengthen their bond as they face adversity – clinging to hope, trust in one another, and the endurance of their shared relationships.
