PALETTE KNIFE: WATER & SKY IN OILS & ACRYLICS

We often think that the palette knife will only be useful for painting highly textured subjects of for working in a thick, impasto method.  Imagine beautiful, smooth water with reflections, and skies that have convincing looking clouds.   Once you learn how to hold and to load your palette knife with paint, these effects will seem to happen automatically as you paint.  Alex will demonstrate in oils, and you can paint along.  All you will need is either oil or acrylic paint, a palette knife* and heavy drawing paper.   *The best type of palette knife is one with a trowel type handle (the metal part of the handle will have a bend in it—not straight.)

Alex will use the basic primaries colors:
reds
blues
yellows
a green
burnt umber

NOTE:

Late registrations will receive the link the morning of the session. You will be able to join the waiting room at 9:30am to ensure you are set up and ready to go. Attendees will receive a copy of the video on Monday afternoon following the demonstration, which will be good to re-watch as many times as you want for up to 30 days.

While this is a demonstration, and not a class, we do encourage you to ask questions throughout the demonstration because odds are if you’re thinking it, someone else is too. We ask all participants to stay muted unless asking a question so that we don’t pick up any background noise and ensure participants can hear and that our recording is clear as well.
