“LowCountry Blues” Vic Varner & Friends

Jazz Guitarist, Educator & Musical Director VIC VARNER presents “LowCountry Blues” featuring George Sheck on bass,  Robert Moring on percussion, Bill Luebke on acoustic slide resonator guitar and pianist Patience Clements.
Vic Varner’s undergrad degree is in Music Education from Charleston Southern University and his Masters of Music Education is from Winthrop University.  Vic’s school choirs have performed at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center and have been nationally ranked in competitions from Orlando to Toronto.  Varner has taught for over 30 years including teaching classes at USCB: University Chorus, Jazz History and Intro to Music. Vic performs as a singer/guitarist with his jazz quartet at venues throughout the southeast; twice featured in Charleston’s Piccolo Spoleto Festival and most recently at Palmetto Bluff’s “Music to Your Mouth” jazz series.
Classically trained, Patience Clements, played her first paid performance, a wedding reception, at age 8. She has performed throughout the US, in numerous theaters, concert halls and recording studios.  Ms. Clements has also toured Canada and Europe many times with artists such as Charlie Rich and Porter Wagoner. While living in Nashville, TN, she was a regular on radio and television programs such as The Grand Ole Opry and The Nashville Network programming, produced several CD’s for other artists and received a BMI songwriting award for her top-5 record “Honesty” by singer Rodney Atkins.
Now residing in Charleston, SC, she plays regularly in The Lobby Bar at The Sanctuary Hotel on Kiawah Island and is the pianist for the Charleston Ballet Theatre.
