Daufskie Artisans and History Tour

Take a boat cruise from Hilton Head Island to Daufuskie Island and learn about Native Americans, European Settlers, and Gullah People who made this island their home. Visit unique historical sites and meet local artists in their studios.

Tucked between Hilton Head Island and Savannah is Daufuskie Island, a true gem of the Lowcountry. Constantly inhabited for the last two thousand years, this island has never had a bridge connecting it to the mainland. Departing from Hilton Head tour begins with a scenic guided boat cruise to the island. Your Captain is a Historian and Interpretive Naturalist. Once on Daufuskie, we load on to golf carts and tour Daufuskie, stopping at significant historical sites and artists studio. Stops on the golf cart tour may include: The First African Baptist Church, The Mary Fields School (memorialized in Pat Conroy’s, A Water is Wide), The Daufuskie Rum Distillery, The Daufuskie Museum, Silver Dew Pottery, The White School, the site of the Bloody Point Lighthouse and The Iron Fish Gallery (winner of Martha Stewart’s American Made Award

Fridays from 1-5:30 pm (Beginning in June)
$85 per person for adults and children
Departs from Shelter Cove Marina
