Crossing the Combahee-Settlement of the Southern Parishes and Beaufort District

March 5 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am

With the fortifications of Charles Town intact, the defenses of the Southern frontier of the 13 colonies began to develop near major river crossings along the King’s Highway south of Edisto.  Intrepid Indian traders and eager ranchers followed them closely, placing their trading posts and ranch homesteads near the forts.  Learn about the settler families who were the earliest in the area and the political forces affecting their choices.

Cost is $10 for library members and $12 for non-members.
