Ballet Behind the Scenes: Alice in Wonderland
March 21 @ 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm
In 2011, storytelling in classical dance entered the 21st century when The Royal Ballet commissioned a new work based on Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland.
You are invited to the Hilton Head Dance School Studio to enjoy a lecture-presentation with video-viewing followed by a behind the scenes look at HHDT’s production of Alice in Wonderland. The whimsical tale comes to life with John Carlyle and Karena Brock-Carlyle’s clever choreography.
In this lecture-demonstration directed by teachers Katie Girardi and Jamal Edwards, watch as the dancers take on the characters of Alice, the White Rabbit, Tweedledum and Tweedledee, and the Cheshire Cat. Admire the incredible costumes created by Angela Beasley’s Puppet People.
Hosting this presentation is Michelle Audet who was the Founding Director of New York City Ballet’s Education Department.
