Art lives! Ekphrastic Poetry

March 14 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 10:00 am on Thursday, repeating until March 14, 2024

Do you enjoy traveling to view art forms?  Paintings? Photography? Sculpture? Film? Architecture?  Would you like to record how that art form makes you feel and then share your reflections with others?

The ekphrastic poem offers you a fresh way to interpret and shape your response to these new experiences.  The word, ekphrastic is from Greek.  It simply means a written description of a work of art. (An example is Keats’ “Ode on a Grecian Urn.”

Bring in visuals that speak to you, plus writing materials, and you will leave with an ekphrastic poem.

Elizabeth Robin teaches this class and retired to Hilton Hed Island after a 33-year teaching career.  She is an award-winning poet with three books to her credit.

Three Sessions: 10 am to 12 noon, Thursday, February 29, March 7 and 14.

The charge for membership is $50 and this allows you to take as many classes as you wish.  Reservations may be made by calling 843-842-8250 or visiting https://www.lifelonglearning.org
