DESCRIPTION:Fabulous Fakes: Master Artwork Parodies from Art League \nImpress your friends with an original Van Gogh (or the next best thing) \n  \nThis summer\, Art League of Hilton Head will host a much-loved and anticipated alternate artistic reality—one in which a cat knocks over Van Gogh’s Irises\, a Renoir nude shows her support for the Olympics\, and one of Degas’ ballerinas checks her iPad for the latest news. \n  \nFabulous Fakes is a two-week exhibit that takes inspiration from famous artworks from all eras. Some parodies are replicas of famous paintings\, often with a humorous or whimsical twist; others are inspired by the techniques of the masters but have an entirely different subject matter\, medium\, or color palette. \n  \n“This exhibit is a chance to have some fun\,” says Kristen McIntosh\, Art League Director. “Artists don’t always have to take their work so seriously\, although it is a challenge to duplicate the works of some of the masters. The skill required to create some of these replicas is astonishing.” \n  \nAll artworks are for sale in the Gallery. \n  \nFabulous Fakes will be held August 27-September 8 at Art League Gallery\, with a reception on Wednesday\, August 28. The show and reception are free and open to the public. \n  \nWHAT: \nFabulous Fakes\, an exhibit of master artwork parodies \n  \nWHEN: \nExhibit: Tuesday\, August 27 through Sunday\, September 8\, 2022. Art League Gallery open Monday-Saturday 10am-4pm\, Sunday 12-4pm and 90 minutes before every Arts Center performance. \nOpening Reception: Wednesday\, August 28\, 5-7pm. Free and open to the public. \n  \nWHERE: \nArt League Gallery is located mid-island inside Arts Center of Coastal Carolina\, 14 Shelter Cove Lane\, Hilton Head Island\, 843.681.5060. \n  \nABOUT ART LEAGUE OF HILTON HEAD: \nArt League of Hilton Head is the only 501(c)(3) nonprofit visual arts organization on Hilton Head Island with a synergistic art gallery and teaching Academy. \n  \nArt League Academy welcomes artists and students in all media at all skill levels\, including true beginners.
