DESCRIPTION:A new retrospective exhibition\, “It’s Thursday! Artists of the Round Table\,” will celebrate 15 prominent local artists who gathered weekly at The Red Piano Gallery from the 1970s through 1994 to share ideas and projects that nurtured the island’s growing art community. The exhibit will be on view through March 23\, 2026. \nThe public is invited to the opening reception on Thursday\, November 13\, from 5 to 7 pm. \nThis retrospective brings together approximately 80 works from private collections and new museum acquisitions. SUMMARY:David Satterfield: The Trump Foreign Policy: A First Year Assessment
DESCRIPTION:The Honorable David M. Satterfield is the director of Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy. He has more than four decades of diplomatic and leadership experience\, including service as special envoy for the Horn of Africa\, assistant secretary of state\, National Security Council staff director and as ambassador to Lebanon and Turkey and charge d’affaires in Iraq and Egypt.  In October\, 2023 he was appointed Presidential Special Envoy for Middle East Humanitarian Issues to lead US diplomacy in addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.  In April\, 2024 he stepped down from this role and continues to serve as a Consultant to the Department of State. \nSatterfield’s extensive bilateral and multinational negotiating background most notably includes the 1995 Roadmap for Israel-Palestinian Peace (with the United Nations)\, the 2000 withdrawal of the Israel Defense Forces from Lebanon and Blue Line boundary agreement (with the United Nations)\, and the 2008 Status of Forces Agreement between the U.S. and Iraq. As the State Department’s coordinator for Iraq\, he managed the largest domestic staff in the department’s history and directed fundamental reforms to the Foreign Service. \nSatterfield conceived and directed the comprehensive modernization of military and civilian peacekeeping operations and led fundraising efforts with the U.S. Congress and donor governments. \nAmong other honors\, Satterfield is the recipient of the highest Department of State recognition\, the Secretary of State Distinguished Service Award; the highest award for senior federal executives\, the Office of Personnel Management Distinguished Federal Executive Rank Award; and the highest Department of Defense award for career federal civilians\, the Secretary of Defense Medal for Meritorious Civilian Service. \nGuest Policy\nGuests may register in advance for $30 or at the door for $35. DESCRIPTION:Coastal Discovery Museum and NIBCAA Present Gullah Celebration at 30: Posters from the Archive \nHILTON HEAD ISLAND\, SC — The Coastal Discovery Museum\, a Smithsonian Affiliate\, in partnership with the Native Island Business and Community Affairs Association (NIBCAA)\, presents Gullah Celebration at 30: Posters from the Archive\, on view from January 10 through March 8\, 2026\, in the museum’s Sea Island Gallery. \nThe exhibition is part of the 2026 Hilton Head Island Gullah Celebration\, a month-long series of events honoring the cultural heritage of the Gullah Geechee community. The public is invited to a reception at the museum on Thursday\, February 5\, from 5–7 pm. \nMarking the festival’s 30th anniversary\, the exhibition features more than 20 posters\, including the first poster by Joe Pinckney and the 2026 poster by Amiri Farris. \n“It’s an honor to collaborate with NIBCAA on this exhibition of posters by important regional artists\, including Jonathan Green\, James Denmark\, and Diane Britton Dunham\,” said Elizabeth Greenberg\, Director of Exhibitions at the Coastal Discovery Museum. “Bringing these posters together for the first time\, you can see different artists’ designs and themes for the Gullah Celebration over the years.” \nAngela Dore\, NIBCAA’s curator of the exhibit and Director of Experiential Learning at the Penn Center National Historic Landmark District\, noted the importance of documenting the annual celebration through visual art. “Each poster tells a story about the spirit of the Gullah Celebration and the need to preserve Gullah culture.” \nThis year’s poster by Amiri Farris will be available for purchase\, giving visitors an opportunity to take home a piece of the festival’s history. \nFounded in 1996\, the Hilton Head Island Gullah Celebration was created to honor\, preserve\, and share the cultural heritage of its Native Islanders. Each year\, the Gullah Celebration commissions an original poster\, turning visual art into a living chronicle of tradition\, creativity\, and community pride.

SUMMARY:Saleeby and Grant: Sea Turtle Art Show

DESCRIPTION:A new retrospective exhibition\, “It’s Thursday! Artists of the Round Table\,” will celebrate 15 prominent local artists who gathered weekly at The Red Piano Gallery from the 1970s through 1994 to share ideas and projects that nurtured the island’s growing art community. The exhibit will be on view through March 23\, 2026. \nThe public is invited to the opening reception on Thursday\, November 13\, from 5 to 7 pm. \nThis retrospective brings together approximately 80 works from private collections and new museum acquisitions. The Artists of the Round Table include Aldwyth\, Ralph Ballantine\, Joe Bowler\, Danielle DeMers\, Joe DeMers\, Ray Ellis\, Elizabeth Grant\, Walter Greer\, Tua Hayes\, Katy Hodgman\, Louanne LaRoche\, Allen Palmer\, Marge Parker\, George Plante\, and Coby Whitmore. \nThe museum is offering free curator’s tours of the exhibit on the following dates:\nTuesday\, December 16\, at 1 pm; Thursday\, January 22\, at 1 pm; Tuesday\, February 24\, at 11 am; and Saturday\, March 14\, at 11 am. \n“We are thrilled to present this historically significant exhibition that captures a remarkable time in Hilton Head’s art community\,” said Elizabeth Greenberg\, Director of Exhibitions. “I would have loved to have been at their Thursday meetings and listened to these influential artists talk about their craft.” \nVisitors can see memorabilia\, photographs\, books\, and articles about the artists\, including articles by Theodore F. Wolff\, art critic for The Christian Science Monitor — a favorite of the Round Table. \nAlso on view in the gallery is the original red grand piano\, on loan from artist Louanne LaRoche\, former owner of The Red Piano Gallery\, and the round wooden table where the artists gathered on Thursday mornings. The table was donated to the museum last year. \n“At 25\, I was just a kid stepping into the world of the Round Table’s legendary artists\,” said LaRoche. “They took me under their wings\, teaching\, inspiring\, and supporting me. Their voices still echo in spirit today\, as I continue to feel and hear their thoughts challenging me to be a better artist. I am so grateful to be a part of this exhibit that can pay tribute to their legacy.”

SUMMARY:Saleeby and Grant: Sea Turtle Art Show
DESCRIPTION:In honor and support of Sea turtle Patrol Hilton Head Island\, Luke Saleeby and Richard Grant created these works featuring Richard’s iconic heart-shaped turtles.  Luke creates his mosaics using items he finds on the beach\, many of which come from old shipwrecks.  For this show\, Richard used paint to pay homage to Luke’s pieces.  Each piece represents a $100 donation to benefit the Sea Turtle Patrol HHI\, 501c3 nonprofit. \nContact Sea Turtle Patrol with inquires: \nwww.SeaTurtlePatrolHHI.org \nor text 843-338-2716 \nOn display at the Island Recreation Center daily until 1st week of February.

SUMMARY:It's Thursday!  Artists of the Round Table
DESCRIPTION:A new retrospective exhibition\, “It’s Thursday! Artists of the Round Table\,” will celebrate 15 prominent local artists who gathered weekly at The Red Piano Gallery from the 1970s through 1994 to share ideas and projects that nurtured the island’s growing art community. The exhibit will be on view through March 23\, 2026. \nThe public is invited to the opening reception on Thursday\, November 13\, from 5 to 7 pm. \nThis retrospective brings together approximately 80 works from private collections and new museum acquisitions. The Artists of the Round Table include Aldwyth\, Ralph Ballantine\, Joe Bowler\, Danielle DeMers\, Joe DeMers\, Ray Ellis\, Elizabeth Grant\, Walter Greer\, Tua Hayes\, Katy Hodgman\, Louanne LaRoche\, Allen Palmer\, Marge Parker\, George Plante\, and Coby Whitmore. \nThe museum is offering free curator’s tours of the exhibit on the following dates:\nTuesday\, December 16\, at 1 pm; Thursday\, January 22\, at 1 pm; Tuesday\, February 24\, at 11 am; and Saturday\, March 14\, at 11 am. \n“We are thrilled to present this historically significant exhibition that captures a remarkable time in Hilton Head’s art community\,” said Elizabeth Greenberg\, Director of Exhibitions. “I would have loved to have been at their Thursday meetings and listened to these influential artists talk about their craft.” \nVisitors can see memorabilia\, photographs\, books\, and articles about the artists\, including articles by Theodore F. Wolff\, art critic for The Christian Science Monitor — a favorite of the Round Table. \nAlso on view in the gallery is the original red grand piano\, on loan from artist Louanne LaRoche\, former owner of The Red Piano Gallery\, and the round wooden table where the artists gathered on Thursday mornings. The table was donated to the museum last year. \n“At 25\, I was just a kid stepping into the world of the Round Table’s legendary artists\,” said LaRoche. “They took me under their wings\, teaching\, inspiring\, and supporting me. Their voices still echo in spirit today\, as I continue to feel and hear their thoughts challenging me to be a better artist. I am so grateful to be a part of this exhibit that can pay tribute to their legacy.”

DESCRIPTION:Coastal Discovery Museum and NIBCAA Present Gullah Celebration at 30: Posters from the Archive \nHILTON HEAD ISLAND\, SC — The Coastal Discovery Museum\, a Smithsonian Affiliate\, in partnership with the Native Island Business and Community Affairs Association (NIBCAA)\, presents Gullah Celebration at 30: Posters from the Archive\, on view from January 10 through March 8\, 2026\, in the museum’s Sea Island Gallery. \nThe exhibition is part of the 2026 Hilton Head Island Gullah Celebration\, a month-long series of events honoring the cultural heritage of the Gullah Geechee community. The public is invited to a reception at the museum on Thursday\, February 5\, from 5–7 pm. \nMarking the festival’s 30th anniversary\, the exhibition features more than 20 posters\, including the first poster by Joe Pinckney and the 2026 poster by Amiri Farris. \n“It’s an honor to collaborate with NIBCAA on this exhibition of posters by important regional artists\, including Jonathan Green\, James Denmark\, and Diane Britton Dunham\,” said Elizabeth Greenberg\, Director of Exhibitions at the Coastal Discovery Museum. “Bringing these posters together for the first time\, you can see different artists’ designs and themes for the Gullah Celebration over the years.” \nAngela Dore\, NIBCAA’s curator of the exhibit and Director of Experiential Learning at the Penn Center National Historic Landmark District\, noted the importance of documenting the annual celebration through visual art. “Each poster tells a story about the spirit of the Gullah Celebration and the need to preserve Gullah culture.” \nThis year’s poster by Amiri Farris will be available for purchase\, giving visitors an opportunity to take home a piece of the festival’s history. \nFounded in 1996\, the Hilton Head Island Gullah Celebration was created to honor\, preserve\, and share the cultural heritage of its Native Islanders. Each year\, the Gullah Celebration commissions an original poster\, turning visual art into a living chronicle of tradition\, creativity\, and community pride.

DESCRIPTION:Over 300 pieces of artwork by member artists on exhibit and for sale \nRing in the new year with Anything Goes!\, Art League of Hilton Head’s annual exhibit showcasing the diverse talents of its member artists. This much-anticipated show features more than 300 original works in a wide range of media—painting\, photography\, ceramics\, jewelry\, fiber\, mixed media\, sculpture\, and more—all created by local artists and all available for purchase. \n“Anything Goes! truly lives up to its name\,” says Gallery Manager Lyndsi Caulder. “There are no rules\, no themes\, and no limits on creativity.
