SUMMARY:"Painting on Glass: The Triple Dipper Platter" with Kathy Oda
DESCRIPTION:This fun workshop gives you the chance to play with glass! You will create your own triple dipper platter using glass as your canvas. No painting experience is necessary! This is a fun workshop so bring a friend and create something new! \nOnce you’ve finished your creations\, Kathy will take them to her studio\, fire them in the kiln and then return the finished plates to the Academy for you to pick up a week later. \n\n\nNOTE:\nIn addition to the registration cost\, students should bring $20 cash to pay the instructor for their materials\, which she will provide for you. Also\, if students prefer to create an 8″ x 8″ dish instead of the triple dipper\, they can send a special request by email to Academy@ArtLeagueHHI.org at least 7 days prior to the class. \nFinished pieces will be available for pickup on Monday\, July 7\, 2025\, between 10am and 2pm. Out of town guests can arranged to have finished pieces shipped to them at cost. \nSKILL LEVEL:\nThis workshop is appropriate for students of all levels. \nREFUND POLICY:\nTicket purchases to Art League of Hilton Head events are final. DESCRIPTION:A Step-by-Step Online Demonstration with instructor Alex Sharma \nWHEN:\n90-MINUTES\nFriday\, August 22\, 2025\n(10am to 11:30am EST)\nYour ticket includes access to the LIVE demo via ZOOM plus a copy of the recording\, good to re-watch as many times as you’d like for 30 days! \n\nWe often think that the palette knife will only be useful for painting highly textured subjects of for working in a thick\, impasto method.  Imagine beautiful\, smooth water with reflections\, and skies that have convincing looking clouds.   Once you learn how to hold and to load your palette knife with paint\, these effects will seem to happen automatically as you paint.  Alex will demonstrate in oils\, and you can paint along.  All you will need is either oil or acrylic paint\, a palette knife* and heavy drawing paper.   *The best type of palette knife is one with a trowel type handle (the metal part of the handle will have a bend in it—not straight.) \nAlex will use the basic primaries colors:\nreds\nblues\nyellows\na green\nburnt umber \nNOTE:\nPlease be sure to Download & Sign-Up for Zoom ahead of time\, it’s free! We will send you the Link to the session the day before the session. Late registrations will receive the link the morning of the session. You will be able to join the waiting room at 9:30am to ensure you are set up and ready to go.
