SUMMARY:Clouds in All Their Glory from Daytime to Sunset\, in Oils" an online step-by-step demonstration with Alex Sharma
DESCRIPTION:A Step-by-Step Online Demonstration with instructor Alex Sharma \nWHEN:\n90-MINUTES\nFriday\, June 20\, 2025\n(10am to 11:30am EST)\nYour ticket includes access to the LIVE demo via ZOOM plus a copy of the recording\, good to re-watch as many times as you’d like for 30 days! \nDramatic skies at sunset\, or with high wind clouds\, puffy cumulonimbus clouds\, rain clouds etc.\, are often the reason that we are drawn to paint a scene. This paint along demo will cover the techniques used to obtain all the above types of cloud formations and the colors associated with them depending on the time of day. \nPaint along in oils (or acrylics) with Alex Sharma as she demonstrates specific brush strokes\, using alla prima (working all at one time while the paint is still wet) mixing techniques to obtain dramatic results. All you will need is oil or acrylic paints\, heavyweight paper coated with gesso—or a canvas—and one or two good brushes. \nAlex will use the following blue-sky colors along with other colors to change the clouds for atmospheric perspective\, time of day and location: \nUltramarine Blue\nCerulean Blue\nPhthalo Blue\nTitanium White\nAlizarine Crimson\nCadmium Yellow\nCadmium Red Light\nBurnt Sienna\nSap – or other Green \nNOTE:\nPlease be sure to Download & Sign-Up for Zoom ahead of time\, it’s free! We will send you the Link to the session the day before the session. Late registrations will receive the link the morning of the session. You will be able to join the waiting room at 9:30am to ensure you are set up and ready to go. Attendees will receive a copy of the video on Monday afternoon following the demonstration\, which will be good to re-watch as many times as you want for up to 30 days. \nWhile this is a demonstration\, and not a class\, we do encourage you to ask questions throughout the demonstration because odds are if you’re thinking it\, someone else is too. We ask all participants to stay muted unless asking a question so that we don’t pick up any background noise and ensure participants can hear and that our recording is clear as well. \nSKILL LEVEL: \nThis class is perfect for students of any level. \nREFUND POLICY:\nTicket purchases to Art League of Hilton Head events are final. Credits or Refunds will not be given for missed or classes/workshops. \nIf a class or workshop is canceled by Art League of Hilton Head a full refund will be given. \n\n\n\nMaterials Included:\nNo materials are provided by Art League of Hilton Head for this demonstration.\n\n\nRequirements:\nSUPPLY LIST:\nAlex will be using the above colors in oil for this demo. Many of the techniques she will be using will also map over to acrylic painters\, so acrylic painters are encouraged and welcome to attend. Also if you plan on painting along\, be sure to have whatever surface you’re using\, the recommended colors\, or similar colors\,\, and whatever other basic tools/supplies you need to use your medium.\n\n\n\nQUESTIONS?\nPlease Email:\nAcademy@ArtLeagueHHI.org

SUMMARY:"Paint Fast IN Oils or Acrylics" with Nancy Mitchell
DESCRIPTION:2 HALF-DAYS\nThursday & Friday (10am to 1pm)\nJune 19\, 20\, 2025 \nDuring this class\, we will focus on how to create full spectrum compositions. We will use detail to create interest in the foreground and atmospheric perspective to create distance in the background. The object of this course is to learn to paint large enough to allow yourself to loosen up and enjoy the process. \nIt is important to bring a large canvas\, nothing smaller than a 24″ x 30″\, however\, bring one as large as you are comfortable with if you want to bring bigger! You’ll also bring a few photographs you are excited about and would enjoy painting. The object of this class is to paint large to enable yourself to loosen up and not be so fussy over details. We will use under-painting to speed up the process and overcome the intimidation factor of that big white canvas. \nPlease visit my website to view my work and feel free to call or email prior to or after the class with any questions. \nI am looking forward to painting with you! \n\n\n\n\nSKILL LEVEL:\nThis class was designed for oil and acrylic painters of all levels. \nREFUND POLICY:\nClass fees to Art League of Hilton Head events are final.
