Areas of demonstrations and techniques will include\, design\, drawing\, color\, value\, washes\, glazing\, wet in wet\, masking\, dry brush\, lifting out and more. \nChris will guide you through the techniques and help you develop skills needed to produce beautiful watercolor paintings. DESCRIPTION:This fun workshop gives you the chance to play with glass! You will create your own 8″ x 8″ plate using glass as your canvas. No painting experience is necessary! This is a fun workshop so bring a friend and create something new! \nOnce you’ve finished your creations\, Kathy will take them to her studio\, fire them in the kiln and then return the finished plates to the Academy for you to pick up a week later. \nNOTE:\nIn addition to the registration cost\, students should bring $20 cash to pay the instructor for their materials\, which she will provide for you. \nSPECIAL NOTE:\nStudents who have taken this class before are eligible to complete 2 plates during class for an additional materials fee. If you are a returning student and want to complete 2 plates\, you MUST make arrangements with the Academy Manager 7-days prior to the workshop by emailing academy@artleaguehhi.org. Only returning students are eligible to complete 2 plates. Join us for an evening creating whimsical Garden Gnomes in clay. Kids 6 years and older are welcome with parents (“parents” can be any adult…grandparents\, siblings\, aunts/uncles) – here’s your chance as a grown-up to stay and play in clay assisting your kids! We will step you through creating unique Gnomes with their oversized hats\, big noses and little feet just peeking out from under their heads. Let your imagine run wild with items to add to them…snails\, butterflies\, shamrocks\, etc. Each Gnome develops their own personality…guaranteed to bring a smile to everyone who sees them. These masterpieces will add the perfect touch to your house. The clay projects will be dried & fired twice in our kiln. Come have fun\, get messy & find your inner creativity! \nAfraid of Commitment? Throughout the year\, the studio features Open Wheel Night on Friday nights from 6:30 – 8 pm. No weekly commitment! Simply pick a date\, make a reservation online\, & come as you are to try a potter’s wheel for the night. Never thrown before…no worries\, the studio will have one of our potters here for a short demo and to help along the way. Just $45/pp for the night which includes the cost of your clay. You can also choose your favorite 2 pots (if you manage to throw something salvageable) to save. The studio will complete the glazing and firing of any pieces saved to pick up later (typically 3-4 weeks). \nOpen Wheel has proved to be a very popular event\, and with limited numbers..you will want to register online to make sure you have a wheel…one night or more…any Friday (check the calendar for upcoming dates).
