SUMMARY:Oils and Acrylics" Obtaining Luminance and Transparency with Alex Sharma
DESCRIPTION:Imagine achieving amazing transparency for water and glass. Oil and acrylic paintings can have that transparent—almost watercolor—look through the application of specific techniques and methods in conjunction with use of a paint medium. We will find our subjects in studio from photo references and still life. Spontaneity of method and color mixing for the subject will be achieved through class demonstrations\, technique exercises\, individual attention and critiques. (some experience in oils or acrylics) \n\n\n\n\nSKILL LEVEL:\nStudents taking this course should have some experience using whatever medium they’re taking the class in (oil or acrylic). \nREFUND POLICY:\nTicket purchases to Art League of Hilton Head events are final. Refunds will not be given for missed or classes/workshops. \nIf a class or workshop is canceled by Art League of Hilton Head a full refund will be given. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPLEASE BRING \nPAINTS: 9 BASIC COLORS: \nZinc White (more transparent than titaniium)\nCadmium yellow (or other primary yellow)\nCadmium red Middle (or orange-leaning red)\nAlizarin crimson (or violet-leaning red)\nUltramarine blue or Cobalt blue\nCerulean blue or Phthalo blue\nSap Green\nYellow Ochre\nBurnt Sienna \nSUGGESTED BRUSHES & PALETTE KNIFE: \nNatural or synthetic bristle for oil/acrylic painting… bring what you have \n1″ or 3/4″ flat or filbert\n#8 pointed round – or size of your choice\ntrowel handle palette knife \nNOTE: Please bring a palette – a board approx size 10″ x 12″ for laying out and mixing colors\, (A white board\, plate or foam core board covered with wax paper will work just fine.)
