SUMMARY:Oil Painting for Beginners: Starting Out Right
DESCRIPTION:With Instructor Alex Sharma. \n\nIf you have ever wanted to try to paint in oils but didn’t know how to start\, this 1-day workshop will introduce you to classic oil painting and the methods used to put paint to canvas and get you on your creative path.  All the basics to get you started on an exciting journey are covered in this workshop: paints\, brushes\, surfaces to paint on (canvas\, board etc.)\, color mixing\, mediums\, brushwork\, palette knife use\, and care of materials. All will be demonstrated and practiced. DESCRIPTION:PAINTING FLOWERS IN PASTELS\nwith Instructor Robert Wortmann \nWHEN:\n3-WEEKS\nFridays (1 to 4pm)\nJanuary 17\, 24\, 31\, 2025 \n\nJoin instructor Robert Wortmann for this 3-week pastel course designed for those who want to learn about the pastel medium and the subject medium of all things floral! Flowers represent one of nature’s most beautiful creations. Painting them can be a very satisfying experience. In this class will explore flowers in three different settings: nature studies (or flower portraits)\, gardens and still life. Each class will begin with a demonstration. After\nwith students will create their own work using their own photos or one supplied by the instructor. During that time each student will have individual attention from the instructor. The demonstrations will be done with pastel\, but students may use any other media if they choose. \n\n\nSKILL LEVEL:\nThis class is appropriate for beginner and intermediate level pastel students. The instructor will adjust lessons according to each student’s skill level.\n\nREFUND POLICY:\nTicket purchases to Art League of Hilton Head events are final. DESCRIPTION:Open Potters Wheel \nWho: Ages 14 to adults \nWhen: Friday Nights throughout the year! \nStarts: Beginning 6:30 pm \nHow Long: 1 & 1/2 hours\, Friday nights \nCost: $45/person/night\n(includes all materials; trimming\, glazing & firing will be completed by studio instructor) \nLooking for a new idea for a night out? Come have fun\, get messy & find your inner creativity! \nAfraid of Commitment? Throughout the year\, the studio features Open Wheel Night on Friday nights from 6:30 – 8 pm. No weekly commitment! Simply pick a date\, make a reservation online\, & come as you are to try a potter’s wheel for the night. Never thrown before…no worries\, the studio will have one of our potters here for a short demo and to help along the way. Just $45/pp for the night which includes the cost of your clay. You can also choose your favorite 2 pots (if you manage to throw something salvageable) to save. The studio will complete the glazing and firing of any pieces saved to pick up later (typically 3-4 weeks). \nOpen Wheel has proved to be a very popular event\, and with limited numbers..you will want to register online to make sure you have a wheel…one night or more…any Friday (check the calendar for upcoming dates).
