DESCRIPTION:“Learn how to Paint with Brilliant Color and Texture”\nwith Instructor Carol Iglesias \n3 HALF-DAYS\nTuesday to Thursday (1 to 4pm)\nJanuary 14\, 15\, 16\, 2025 \nLearn how to Paint with Brilliant Color and Texture.\nExpand your painting skills with Oil or Acrylics. The class will start with a full painting demonstration. Carol will share her process for blocking in large simple shapes before layering colors. Learn how to capture beautiful color in your clouds\, focus on a strong composition\, define values\, establish a point of focus\, and how to see and use color effectively in your paintings. You will also learn how to interpret your reference photographs and understand the relationships between value\, color temperature and color intensity. There will be personalized teaching and individualized feedback throughout the day.SKILL LEVEL:\nThis class is designed for beginner students\, intermediate students and advanced students. This all-levels class focuses a lot on individual assistance from the instructor\, who can adjust accordingly to each student. \nREFUND POLICY:\nTicket purchases to Art League of Hilton Head events are final. Credits or Refunds will not be given for missed or classes/workshops. \nIf a class or workshop is canceled by Art League of Hilton Head a full refund will be given. \nMaterials Included:No materials are included in this classRequirements:SUPPLY LIST FOR OILS: \nPrintable Supply List Here \nThe following is a list of items that I like to use. These are only suggestions. You may use whatever materials that you have or prefer. \nThe items in Bold are the most important supplies needed. \nOILS\n(I primarily use a limited palette of Titanium White\, Cadmium Yellow Light\, Yellow Ochre\, Cadmium Red Light\, Alizarin Crimson\, Cerulean Blue\, Ultramarine Blue\, Sap Green or Viridian Green). Depending on the location\, I sometimes add Cadmium Orange\, Manganese Blue Hue or Cobalt Blue. I also use a Permalba White (very soft) and Transparent Red\, Orange or Brown Oxide to tone my surface. \nSmall Sketchbook\n(I use 3.5″ x 5″ Strathmore Sketch) \n(2) Oil Painting Panels or Canvas\n11″ x 14″ or 12″ x 16″ are good sizes. (I use Centurion OP DLX Linen Panels for plein air and sketched canvas for studio. Please tone your panels or canvas ahead of class with Transparent Red\, Orange or Brown Oxide. Many options are available thru Jerry’s Artarama or Dick Blick. \nBrushes long handle\n(I use Filbert or Egbert Brushes numbers 2\, 4\, 6\, 8\, 10 and one old #2 bristle for drawing) \nGloves in a Bottle/Barrier Cream \nGloves (if prefferred) \nBaby Wipes and/or Paper Towels\nViva or Shop Towels are best! \nBlack Ultra Fine Tip Pen\n(for sketching. She grew up in the Pacific Northwest and currently lives on Hilton Head Island\, SC. She is an award-winning artist\, instructor\, and juror who has exhibited her paintings extensively at galleries\, museums\, and shows. \nShe works with oils and the brilliant color and texture of soft pastels. Her background in traveling has a strong influence on her subject matter. Carol employs a contemporary impressionistic style and has painted plein air for more than 20 years. \nIn 2012\, she was awarded a prestigious Artist Residency for one month at “Les Amis de la Grande Vigne” in Dinan\, France\, the former home and studio of the famous French artist Yvonne Jean-Haffen. One of Carol’s paintings was selected for the Museum’s permanent collection and was on exhibition in France during 2013 and again in 2019. \nShe is an award winning signature member of The Maryland Pastel Society\, as well as current member of The American Impressionist Society\, Oil Painters of America\, The Pastel Society of America\, and the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association. Her painting was selected as a semi-finalist for The Laguna Plein Air Painters Association\, LPAPA’S 17th Annual Best of Plein Air Show. \nSome of her paintings are in public and private collections throughout the U.S. as well as in five international countries.
