SUMMARY:Make a Pair of Mugs - Hand Building Techniques
DESCRIPTION:Treat yourself to a fun 1-day project. We have a perfect opportunity for you to experience hand-building while we make spectacular pieces…your very own pair of mugs. Our one-day class will include an introduction to rolling slabs\, texturing\, sculpting\, & constructing your creation. Your mug can take on its own unique shape…handles looking like mushrooms\, tree frogs\, snakes\, or abstract curly-cues. Your masterpiece will be fired and ready to pick up a few weeks after class. \nOur teaching method is hands-on\, and class sizes are intentionally small so we can provide individualized attention as needed. This class is fun and low-key…we want you to learn what it takes to create a pottery piece\, but it’s just as important to have a good experience. \n  \nThis Class is limited to 10 participants

SUMMARY:"Portraits in Watercolor of the Medium of Your Choice"
DESCRIPTION:Hilton Head Island\, South Carolina — May 13-15\, 2025 — Renowned artist Tony Armendariz will lead a workshop titled “Portraits in Watercolor or the Medium of Your Choice” from May 13 to 15\, 2025 at Art League of Hilton Head Academy. This class is designed for artists with basic watercolor skills\, or an understanding of the medium they’re working in\, offering a blend of live demonstrations and personalized instruction which will be adjusted based upon each students’ individual needs. \n  \nAbout Tony Armendariz \nTony Armendariz is a celebrated artist known for his expressive watercolor portraits. A Chicago native\, he trained at the American Academy of Art under Irving Shapiro. With over 20 years of experience in graphic arts\, Tony’s work has been featured in Fine Art Connoisseur and American Art Collector. He has exhibited at venues like The Butler Institute of American Art and The Salmagundi Club. \nTony has received numerous awards\, including the Frank Webb Award of Merit and the Mary Bryan Memorial Award. Register online at www.ArtLeagueHHI.org. \n  \nArtists Statement \n“My paintings concentrate on portraits and figurative work sometimes combined with architectural elements. With my subjects displayed the classic realist tradition\, either as portraits or scenes of life\, it is my intent to display their soul/authentic self which at times\, may not reveal itself to me immediately. Many times\, the “window” opens and shows itself not only through the eyes but also through the many other features which are used to emote the ranges of expression including the mouth\, hands and body language. Sometimes it may also include other props such as clothing and items of domestic life and work. The range of the subjects’ stories can be quiet and simple\, and yet some are dramatic and profound.” \n  \nWHAT: \nPortraiture Workshop with Renowned Watercolor Artist Tony Armendariz \n  \nWHEN: \nTuesday to Thursday 9am to 4pm\, May 13\, 14 & 15\, 2025. \n  \nWHERE: \nArt League Academy is located South-island\, 106 Cordillo Parkway\, Hilton Head Island\, SC\, 29928 \n  \nHOW: \nOnline registration: https://shop.artleaguehhi.org/module/class/552529/portraits-in-watercolor-with-tony-armendariz-may-2025
