Oil and acrylic paintings can have that transparent—almost watercolor—look through the application of specific techniques and methods in conjunction with use of a paint medium. We will find our subjects in studio from photo references and still life. Spontaneity of method and color mixing for the subject will be achieved through class demonstrations\, technique exercises\, individual attention and critiques. DESCRIPTION:Knowing which colors to mix together in order to get shadows can be a challenge.  So many variables: time of day\, color of object casting the shadow\, color of surface the shadow falls upon\, what is near the object…. etc.\, etc.  This class will focus on the color wheel with a step-by-step approach to the mysteries of how shadows work and how to use complementary colors\, analogous colors and neutrals to get harmonious\, convincing shadows.  We will paint from studio still life where we will be able to see what colors are in play to make the shadows.  Come prepared to paint in your medium of choice. \nSKILL LEVEL:\nThis class requires zero experience.
