It’s not like any other art form.  It’s so exciting to watch the inks move & flow & it happens right in your hands!  Anyone can do it…no need to have experience. \nEach painting is totally unique\, bright & powerful.  Alcohol inks have such a color intensity & personality unmatched by other mediums. Julie will walk you through the steps to beautiful vibrant paintings. \nWe’ll be using the inks on Yupo paper as well as on tiles for amazing effects! \nAlcohol Inks can be applied on various surfaces like Yupo paper\, glossy paper\, metal\, shrink plastic and glass to get a polished finish. Use this transparent alcohol ink to create colorful & dazzling effects on these slick surfaces. This ink is acid-free\, fade-resistant & fast-drying. \nYou will be provided with all the supplies\, including many colors of inks\, gloves\, Yupo paper\, tiles\, as well as many items for manipulating inks. \nCome & have fun create beautiful landscape paintings with inks. DESCRIPTION:Join Us for this Exciting Class with Minnesota Based Instructor\, Julie Schroeder. Discover and energize your inner artist and loosen up with exciting new watercolor techniques. \nThis will be a FUN class with watercolor techniques. Using color\, texture\, layering\, expressive mark making\, & splattering\, we’ll be experimenting with different professional papers. \nIn this workshop\, our main project will be a lovely landscape created with handmade papers on 140lb watercolor paper. We’ll be layering on beautiful rich color in a wet into wet beginning with a special technique combining papers layered onto the watercolor paper. This creates a beautiful textured 3-D look! \nWe will also be doing some smaller pieces exploring a variety of brush techniques. Be prepared to uncover the amazing qualities of watercolor. We will be doing some experimenting with fresh watercolors as well! \nExperienced painters as well as those who are new to watercolors will both enjoy this fun and exciting day of exploration of watercolor. It’s not like any other art form.  It’s so exciting to watch the inks move & flow & it happens right in your hands!  Anyone can do it…no need to have experience. \nEach painting is totally unique\, bright & powerful.  Alcohol inks have such a color intensity & personality unmatched by other mediums. Julie will walk you through the steps to beautiful vibrant paintings. \nWe’ll be using the inks on Yupo paper as well as on tiles for amazing effects!  We’ll be experimenting with blowing flowers in alcohol inks to create amazing art! \nAlcohol Inks can be applied on various surfaces like Yupo paper\, glossy paper\, metal\, shrink plastic and glass to get a polished finish. Use this transparent alcohol ink to create colorful & dazzling effects on these slick surfaces. This ink is acid-free\, fade-resistant & fast-drying. \nYou will be provided with all the supplies\, including many colors of inks\, gloves\, Yupo paper\, tiles\, as well as many items for manipulating inks. \nCome & have fun blowing flowers with inks. DESCRIPTION:Join Us for this Exciting Class with Minnesota Based Instructor\, Julie Schroeder. Discover and energize your inner artist and loosen up with exciting new watercolor techniques. \nThis will be a FUN class with watercolor techniques. Using color\, texture\, layering\, expressive mark making\, & splattering\, we’ll be experimenting with different professional papers. \nIn this workshop\, our main project will be a lovely landscape created with handmade papers on 140lb watercolor paper. We’ll be layering on beautiful rich color in a wet into wet beginning with a special technique combining papers layered onto the watercolor paper. This creates a beautiful textured 3-D look! \nWe will also be doing some smaller pieces exploring a variety of brush techniques. Be prepared to uncover the amazing qualities of watercolor. We will be doing some experimenting with fresh watercolors as well! \nExperienced painters as well as those who are new to watercolors will both enjoy this fun and exciting day of exploration of watercolor. SUMMARY:Pine Needle Basket Making with Karen McCarthy
DESCRIPTION:Join local pine needle basket maker Karen McCarthy for this exciting half-day workshop. The focus will be individualized\, so students of all levels are welcome. \nStudents can choose to learn a variety of techniques from the basics (starting a basket\, changing thread\, shaping sides\, finishing a basket) to more advanced techniques (adding beads or other findings\, doing a variety of stitches\, or sculptural work). \nStudents who are familiar with pine needle basket making are encouraged to bring work in progress and beads or findings they would like to incorporate into a basket. \n\nSKILL LEVEL:\nThis course is individualized and is appropriate for students of all levels\, beginner to advanced.  \nNOTE:\nIn addition to the registration fee\, students should bring $20 cash to pay the instructor for a kit consisting of basic materials (prepared pine needles\, waxed polyester cord\, and a variety of prepared basket centers for you to choose from).
