At just 17 years old in 1739\, Eliza’s experiments with indigo led to a thriving industry in colonial South Carolina. Discover her fascinating story\, learn about the process of making indigo dye\, and create your own indigo tie-dye T-shirt to take home. The museum provides one t-shirt (sizes range from child medium to adult XL). Feel free to bring one additional small cotton item\, such as a shirt\, tea towel\, scarf\, or apron\, to dye as well. \n$20 per person \nPeggy’s book\, Eliza Lucas Pinckney: Colonial Plantation Manager and Mother of American Patriots\, 1722-1793\, is available for purchase in the Museum Store. \n \n

DESCRIPTION:  \n\n\n\nEXPRESSIVE ABSTRACTS IN OIL & COLD WAX \nwith Guest Artist & Instructor Linda Benton McCloskey \nSeptember 28 – 30\, 2024 • 10am to 4pm \n  \nThis workshop will teach you how to paint with cold wax and oil in an abstract way. You will learn everything I know about this technique. We will work with several abstract compositions and learn about various materials\, surface effects and techniques used to create unique pieces. Color harmony will also be part of this workshop. This workshop is geared towards the beginner to intermediate levels.
