SUMMARY:GRAND MOTORING FILM FESTIVAL - SHOWCASE EVENT
DESCRIPTION:The 2025 Grand Motoring Film Festival is kicking off the Hilton Head Island Concours d’Elegance weekend with another banner lineup of automotive and cinematic works of art. Combining static displays of some of the most iconic cars in cinema\, and award-winning independent films from around the world\, this year’s lineup promises a night of big screen excitement and inspiration at the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina. \nIt all begins with a classic Hollywood-style red carpet reception with elevated food and cocktails served amid static displays of collector cars and cinematic vehicles\, including the rare and iconic film-accurate DeLorean Time Machine. Along with the selection of short films\, including the WORLD PREMIERE of “RETURN OF THE CHAMP“\, starring IndyCar driver Will Power and his brother Damien\, who also directs the film\, which reveals both the heavy psychological toll and sheer exhilaration professional drivers experience\, the evening will feature a juried awards show recognizing the year’s top car culture films and a headliner film that celebrates the intersection of the automotive and cinema culture. \nTickets available now! \nAdmission tickets are available in person at the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina Box Office (14 Shelter Cove Lane\, Hilton Head Island)\, by phone at 843-842-2787\, or online via grandmotoring.com. SUMMARY:Land and Sea: Animals Above and Creatures Below
DESCRIPTION:This March\, Art League hosts Land and Sea: Animals Above and Creatures Below\, a joint exhibit featuring local artists Nancy Mitchell and Susie Parker. The show is a celebration of nature\, featuring paintings and sculptures depicting land animals and sea life found in the Lowcountry and beyond. Mitchell’s impressionistic animal forms and paintings in soft\, muted tones contrast beautifully with Parker’s boldly colored sculptures\, often made from found objects and finished with whimsical details. \nMitchell has been a Lowcountry artist for 40 years\, creating murals and faux finishes in private homes and businesses while also teaching at Art League and in her studio. Her love of animals inspires and informs her work. “Animals in nature are under assault\, so Susie and I are donating a portion of our sales to The Nature Conservancy and 4ocean\,” says Mitchell. Habitat is key; always remember to let it be…” \nParker\, originally from Pennsylvania and later Bethesda\, MD\, has created props and designed sets for corporate and hotel functions and painted murals and faux finishes for private homes. Since her move back to Hilton Head in 2022\, she has concentrated on sculpture\, and more recently\, her work has centered around sea life. “I’ve always drawn\, painted\, sculpted nature—the lines and shapes of life.” \nLand and Sea: Animals Above and Creatures Below runs March 4-April 4\, 2025. An opening reception will occur on March 5\, from 5-7pm. Nancy and Susie will also hold artists’ demos on Saturday\, March 8\, 1-3pm. The exhibit\, reception and demos are free and open to the public. \nGallery Hours are Monday through Saturday\, 10am to 4pm\, Sunday 12 to 4pm\, and 90 minutes prior to every performance in the theater.
