SUMMARY:Birding at Pinckney Island
DESCRIPTION:Led by an experienced bird watcher from the Coastal Discovery Museum\, this walk takes place every Wednesday from 7:30-9:30 am (except July and January).  The walk will include the combination of habitats at Pinckney Island Wildlife Refuge.  These varying areas allow participants to see many different species of birds.  Several species of shore birds can usually be seen in the mud flats in the salt marsh\, while many species of wading birds could potentially be seen around the marsh and fresh water lagoons. \nCost is $15 per person (ages 12 and older\, please\, and reservations are required by calling 843-689-6767 ext. 223. \n

DESCRIPTION:Taste of Gullah\nFebruary 10\, 2024\n2024 marks the 28-year history of partnership between the Arts Center and the Gullah community. Taste of Gullah will be held on the Arts Center grounds once again for a celebration of this beautiful culture represented by art\, crafts\, entertainment\, and of course\, the main course – Gullah specialties! \nResidents and visitors alike will enjoy delicious food with Gullah flair! \nInside the cozy Walter Greer Gallery\, browse the Art League of Hilton Head’s annual exhibit and sale of De Aarts Ob We People\, one of the largest displays of original work by emerging and acclaimed artists representing the life of Gullah people in the Lowcountry. \nAlso in the Arts Center ticket lobby on Saturday will be the eclectic new and used book selection provided by “An Island Bookshelf!” \nJoin us for the festivities Saturday\, February 10\, 12–3pm at the Arts Center. \nThis project is funded in part by the South Carolina Arts Commission which receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts.

SUMMARY:How Terrariums Changed the World!
DESCRIPTION:This class will begin with a fascinating history of terrariums followed by the assembling of a new terrarium.  The newly created terrarium will go home with a lucky member of the audience.  The class ends with the display of unusual examples of the art in hope of inspiring students to try to make a terrarium of their own. \nMarcia Lenz is a Master Gardener. \nOne Session: 1:30-3:30\, Tuesday\, February 20th \nThe Seabrook (off Pope Avenue) \n  \nThe charge for membership is $50.  This allows you to take as many classes as you wish.  Reservations are required and may be made by calling 843-842-8250 or online at www.lifelonglearning.org \n
