SUMMARY:Lowcountry Speaker Series Fall 2020 Virtual Lecture Series
DESCRIPTION:The Lowcountry Speaker Series is delighted to announce the launch of our Fall 2020 virtual lecture series featuring the 23rd Commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration\, Dr. Scott Gottlieb\, and master storyteller and champion of social justice\, British portrait photographer\, Platon. \nOur two-speaker virtual program will take place over three nights. Lowcountry Speaker Series Founder and Host\, James Lamar\, will conduct a 60-minute moderated discussion with Dr. Gottlieb\, who is one of our nation’s leading experts on today’s global pandemic. His views on COVID-19 mitigation\, treatment\, testing\, and drug development are shaping our political\, social\, and economic policies. \nOn October 27 & 28\, we’ll show an exclusive prescreening of British photographer Platon’s documentary on social justice and contemporary culture\, titled “Our Time.” The film takes us behind the scenes of Platon’s intimate photoshoots and interviews with the movers and shakers of our time\, featuring President Donald Trump\, Barack and Michelle Obama\, Vladimir Putin\, George W. Bush\, George Clooney\, Professor Stephen Hawking\, Elon Musk and many more. As Platon interacts with political and business leaders\, as well as civil rights heroes and Hollywood celebrities\, key themes emerge — the importance of empathy and compassion\, what is good leadership\, and how we can overcome division and political gridlock. Immediately following each 1-hour viewing\, Mr. Lamar will host Platon for a 30-minute audience Q&A session. \nPlease join us for these unique events\, where you will have the opportunity to not only learn\, but also engage with your own thought-provoking questions. Tickets are sold as a 2-lecture subscription only. To purchase\, please visit: https://www.lowcountryspeakerseries.com/tickets/purchase-now/
