SUMMARY:This is Not: Aldwyth in Retrospect
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe Coastal Discovery Museum will present an exhibition of the rarely seen works of Hilton Head-based artist Aldwyth\, from October 16 to March 23\, 2025.  The public is invited to the opening reception on October 17\, from 5-7 pm. Guest Curator Mark Sloan will give a tour of the exhibition before the reception. \n  \nThis is Not: Aldwyth in Retrospect spans nearly 70 years of her work\, including early examples of photography\, painting\, and fiber\, as well as her later bricolages and epic-scaled\, intricate collages that take viewers on a creative journey through time and space.   Although Aldwyth has lived and worked on Hilton Head since 1967\, her works have rarely been seen in the area. Her unique evolution as an artist is the subject of the documentary\, Aldwyth: Fully Assembled\, by award-winning filmmaker Olympia Stone. The Museum plans to screen the film in early 2025.

SUMMARY:SOMETHING ROTTEN!
DESCRIPTION:WELCOME TO THE RENAISSANCE … AND THE OUTRAGEOUS\, CROWD-PLEASING MUSICAL COMEDY:  “SOMETHING ROTTEN!”\nLauded by audiences and critics alike\, this big song and dance comedy phenomenon was hailed as “the funniest musical in at least 400 years!” This boisterous\, witty musical is anything but rotten! This history-twisting tale makes it clear that “nothing’s as amazing as a musical!” \n\n\nCreated by Grammy Award-winning songwriter Wayne Kirkpatrick\, and blockbuster screenwriters Karey Kirkpatrick and John O’Farrell\, Something Rotten has been lauded by audiences and critics alike\, receiving several Best Musical nominations and hailed by Time Out New York as “the funniest musical comedy in at least 400 years!” \nIt’s the 1590s and Brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance leather-clad rock star known as “The Bard.” When a soothsayer shockingly foretells that the future of theatre involves singing\, dancing\, and acting at the same time\, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first musical! \nSomething Rotten features large song and dance numbers including tap\, and a delightfully wacky cast of over-the-top characters. This history-twisting tale makes it clear that “nothing’s as amazing as a musical!” \n‍ \nDirected by: Whitaker Gannon\n\n\nBest For Ages: 13 and up\n\n
