DESCRIPTION:Romantic adult relationships are the focus of the musical comedy I Love You\, You’re Perfect\, Now Change\, coming to Sea Glass Stage Company February 20 to March 8. \nDirected by Dan Franke\, the show promises chuckles\, guffaws\, and maybe slightly cringy shrugs at familiar scenes. \n“This show is almost indescribable – there’s nothing to compare it to\,” Franke said\, when asked what the musical is all about. “Each scene is a snapshot of love\, in or out of it\, with people who are old\, young\, gay\, straight.” \nThe many stories celebrate numerous facets of relationships from first meet-ups to marriage\, successful pairings to comical mistakes\, from moving in to moving on\, with a healthy dose of kids and in-laws\, family vacations\, and pick-up techniques of the elders. \nFour local actors will portray the 40 characters represented in the comedic vignettes\, “almost in Saturday Night Live sketch format crossed with a musical revue\,” Franke said. “It is delightful\, because the audience isn’t sure what the next scene is going to be.” \nFranke is joined on the production team by Bob Adams as musical director\, Alex Clark as stage manager\, Ashley Gonzalez as choreographer\, and Craig Walck as lighting designer. Marcia Peterson returns as costume designer and procurer. \nPerformances are at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays\, February 20-March 8\, at the home of Sea Glass Stage Company\, 1 N. Brooke’s work has received scholarships to the Sewanee Writers’ Conference\, Looking Glass Rock Writers’ Conference\, and Writers in Paradise. Her work has appeared or is forthcoming in The Florida Review\, Copper Nickel\, New South\, Salt Hill Journal\, Potomac Review\, The Southeast Review\, Columbia Poetry Review\, RHINO Poetry\, Artemis and Kestrel. Most recently\, she won the Audience Choice Award at the 12th Annual Comedy Battle in Savannah\, GA. She lives with two dogs\, Jane and Arlo. She is excited about a tour that began this summer\, where she says she’ll “be everywhere from Tennessee to South Carolina to Florida and more places to come. The madcap fun begins with a beautiful woman who is a secret agent\, and hurtles through a stage act featuring a couple of con artists\, hilarious underwear salesmen on a rumbling steam train\, bumbling policemen\, an amazing escape\, a fake campaign speech\, two more beautiful women\, a plane crash … and that’s just the first part! \nThe local production will run May 2-18 at Sea Glass Stage at Coligny Theatre\, 1 N.
