Brewing and fermentation was a byproduct and catalyst of agriculture and settled life\, among many other inventions. Learn about some of the science behind how beer is made and to see how it has impacted our lives in ways we never think about. At the end of the presentation\, enjoy a special beer tasting designed to enhance both history lessons. The Battle of Honey Hill was fought in modern Ridgeland\, SC as an intended diversion from Sherman’s approach to Savannah. It was one of the last three significant Confederate victories in the war and marked the first time in the war that black regiments outnumbered white regiments in the Union assault. She is currently finishing her Doctorate degree at Stony Brook University\, where she teaches in the Undergraduate department. Dasha’s main musical vision is to expose the audience to unfamiliar music from different nations\, making an emphasis on Folk Music with the intention of destroying divisions and prejudices between people through the beauty of universal unspoken language. \nCellist\, Marcel Krasner is a soloist\, chamber musician and founder of Velveteen Ensemble\, whose mission is to provide opportunities by collaborating with composers\, musicians\, dancers and other artists.  Marcel had completed his undergraduate studies at Brooklyn College\, where he studied Music Performance and Business\, Finance and Management and holds a Master of Music degree from Story Brook University\, where he studied with Colin Carr. Marcel’s goal is to open people’s eyes to the importance of classical music.

DESCRIPTION:No matter who will be sitting in the Oval Office on January 21\, 2021\, they will be confronted with multiple nuclear crises. They will have to make choices that will affect whether we are living in a world in which the number of nuclear weapons is going up or going down. These choices will be related to both internal and external policies. Should we use nuclear weapons first in a crisis? Do we need more than one person involved in the authorization of a nuclear strike? Is it is a good idea to invest in new low-yield nuclear capabilities? Should we reenter what’s left of the Iran Deal? How do we make arms control agreements with Russia when the trust between our nations is broken? \nBell will outline current global nuclear threats and their related policy choices. She will then discuss how the President and Congress can and should respond to those threats. \nAlexandra Bell is the Senior Policy Director at the Center for Arms Control & Non-Proliferation. Her areas of focus include bilateral and multilateral arms control and non-proliferation\, Euro-Atlantic security\, diplomacy\, and Congressional affairs. Previously\, Bell served as a Senior Advisor in the Office of the Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security. Before joining the Department of State in 2010\, she worked on nuclear policy issues at the Ploughshares Fund and the Center for American Progress.

He held academic positions at the University of Toronto and UCLA\, and has contributed to pediatric orthopedic education around the world.
