SUMMARY:Shelter Cove Sculpture Trail
DESCRIPTION:Shelter Cove Sculpture Trail connects Shelter Cove Community Park and Shelter Cove Veterans’ Memorial Park to a new trailhead parking area. The trail features a temporary display of public art sculptures. Permanent and temporary sculptures incorporating Island wildlife and environmental themes are installed along the trail. Temporary pieces will be changed every 12-18 months. \nThe trail is a public pathway network along Broad Creek and Shelter Cove Lane. The pathways along Broad Creek provide spectacular views of the salt marsh. In the future\, it will be connected to the proposed Chaplin Linear Park. The trail features: \n\nRealigned and widened sections of a multi-use pathway.\nA boardwalk along the waterfront of Veterans’ Park.\nA pedestrian timber bridge between Veterans’ Park and Waterwalk II.\nAdditional public parking and a trailhead located on Town-owned property.\nPublic art and sculpture gardens.\nViews of Broad Creek.\nInterpretive signage sharing the history and ecology of Broad Creek.\n\n\nPark Information\n\n Trail connects Shelter Cove Community Park (39 Shelter Cove Lane) to the Trail Head (87 Shelter Cove Lane) \nDirections\nVisitors may access the trail from three public parking areas. \n\nShelter Cove Community Park – entrance near the Performance Pavilion\nVeterans’ Memorial Park (59 Shelter Cove Lane)\nTrail Head (87 Shelter Cove Lane)\n\n\n\n\nAmenities\n\n\nFree Parking\nPublic Art

DESCRIPTION:Heritage Library is once again exhibiting with “A Stitch in time”.  Our 2025 celebration of the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution quilt\, is surrounded by additional Revolutionary War moments and bracketed by fabric art pieces by Peg Weschke and Jody Wigton.  Peg and Jody are part of the team from Art Quilters of the Low Country that created “A Stitch in Time”.  Frances Marion (the Swamp Fox) is part of the exhibit and gives you a perfect “selfie” moment with the Birg. DESCRIPTION:The Coastal Discovery Museum\, a Smithsonian Affiliate\, is presenting “Four Sketchbooks a Year: Celebrating 25 Years of the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities\,” a showcase of visual arts by Beaufort County alumni\, on view through January 4\, 2026. \nFounded in 1980 by music teacher Virginia Uldrick as a five-week summer program in Greenville\, SC\, the Governor’s School opened its full-time residential high school in 1999 with 126 students and celebrated its 25th graduating class in 2025. \n“As a curator and parent of a Govie\, it’s been a joy to see such consistently strong work from students in the visual arts program\,” said Elizabeth Greenberg\, Director of Exhibitions at the Coastal Discovery Museum. “And it’s so rewarding to see how the artists continue to grow in college and beyond.” \nParticipating artists in “Four Sketchbooks”— from the Governor’s School first class through the class of 2026—include:\nEmma Barnes (class of 2010)\, Alex Coley (class of 2024)\, Amelie Davis (class of 2025)\, Evan Ford (class of 2024)\, Alex Gentemann (class of 2021)\, Colleen Gleason (class of 2001)\, Nathaniel Greenberg (class of 2025)\, Kevin Hopkins (class of 2018)\, Tori Lusik (class of 2014)\, Luis Paredes (class of 2026)\, Jack Perry (class of 2007)\, Olivia Ruxton (class of 2005)\, Jessie Peterson Tarazi (class of 2002)\, and Wylder Voegele (class of 2020). \n“We are excited about this opportunity to showcase our program and the work of these talented Beaufort County students\,” said David Gerhard\, Visual Arts Department Chair at the Governor’s School. “These artists embody our department’s mission of giving South Carolina’s young creatives the tools and resources to flourish as artists in an environment centered around respect\, hard work\, creativity\, and connection.”

SUMMARY:It's Thursday!  Artists of the Round Table
DESCRIPTION:A new retrospective exhibition\, “It’s Thursday! Artists of the Round Table\,” will celebrate 15 prominent local artists who gathered weekly at The Red Piano Gallery from the 1970s through 1994 to share ideas and projects that nurtured the island’s growing art community. The exhibit will be on view through March 23\, 2026. \nThe public is invited to the opening reception on Thursday\, November 13\, from 5 to 7 pm. \nThis retrospective brings together approximately 80 works from private collections and new museum acquisitions. The Artists of the Round Table include Aldwyth\, Ralph Ballantine\, Joe Bowler\, Danielle DeMers\, Joe DeMers\, Ray Ellis\, Elizabeth Grant\, Walter Greer\, Tua Hayes\, Katy Hodgman\, Louanne LaRoche\, Allen Palmer\, Marge Parker\, George Plante\, and Coby Whitmore. \nThe museum is offering free curator’s tours of the exhibit on the following dates:\nTuesday\, December 16\, at 1 pm; Thursday\, January 22\, at 1 pm; Tuesday\, February 24\, at 11 am; and Saturday\, March 14\, at 11 am. \n“We are thrilled to present this historically significant exhibition that captures a remarkable time in Hilton Head’s art community\,” said Elizabeth Greenberg\, Director of Exhibitions. “I would have loved to have been at their Thursday meetings and listened to these influential artists talk about their craft.” \nVisitors can see memorabilia\, photographs\, books\, and articles about the artists\, including articles by Theodore F. Wolff\, art critic for The Christian Science Monitor — a favorite of the Round Table. \nAlso on view in the gallery is the original red grand piano\, on loan from artist Louanne LaRoche\, former owner of The Red Piano Gallery\, and the round wooden table where the artists gathered on Thursday mornings. The table was donated to the museum last year. \n“At 25\, I was just a kid stepping into the world of the Round Table’s legendary artists\,” said LaRoche. “They took me under their wings\, teaching\, inspiring\, and supporting me. Their voices still echo in spirit today\, as I continue to feel and hear their thoughts challenging me to be a better artist. I am so grateful to be a part of this exhibit that can pay tribute to their legacy.”
