SUMMARY:Conceptual Threads - Art Quilters of the Lowcountry
DESCRIPTION:Conceptual Threads\, a new exhibit by the Art Quilters of the Lowcountry\, a cooperative of fiber artists. The exhibit will be on view May 13 – July  26. \nThe public is invited to attend the opening reception on Thursday\, May 14\, from 5 to 7 pm. Admission to the museum is free. \nConceptual Threads features 60+ works by the cooperative’s four members — Ron Hodge\, Roberta (Ro) Morrissey\, Peg Weschke\, and Jody Wigton— plus four guest quilters selected by the group.  Guest quilters are Chris Lanigan\, Deborah Legiadre\, Marty Kotter\, and Candace Hackett Shively. \n“We are delighted to once again showcase these award-winning fiber artists who explore both abstract themes and personal stories through this unique art form\,” said Elizabeth Greenberg\, Director of Exhibitions\, at the Coastal Discovery Museum. \nConceptual Threads celebrates how the artists use fabric and thread to share ideas\, emotions\, and connections that go beyond what is seen on the surface\, said Morrissey\, known for her painterly approach. “Each quilt is an invitation to experience quilts not only as works of art\, but also as conversations—between tradition and innovation\, artist and viewer\, and the threads that tie us all together.” \n

SUMMARY:Paint Fast in Oils or Acrylics with instructor Nancy Mitchell
DESCRIPTION:During this class\, we will focus on how to create full spectrum compositions. We will use detail to create interest in the foreground and atmospheric perspective to create distance in the background. The object of this course is to learn to paint large enough to allow yourself to loosen up and enjoy the process. \nIt is important to bring a large canvas\, nothing smaller than a 24″ x 30″\, however\, bring one as large as you are comfortable with if you want to bring bigger! You’ll also bring a few photographs you are excited about and would enjoy painting. The object of this class is to paint large to enable yourself to loosen up and not be so fussy over details. We will use under-painting to speed up the process and overcome the intimidation factor of that big white canvas. \nPlease visit my website to view my work and feel free to call or email prior to or after the class with any questions. \nI am looking forward to painting with you! \n\n\n\n\nSKILL LEVEL:\nThis class was designed for oil and acrylic painters of all levels. \nREFUND POLICY:\nClass fees to Art League of Hilton Head events are final. SUMMARY:Summer: The Donna Summer Musical
DESCRIPTION:JUL 9 – AUG 17\, 2025\nPreview performances:\nJuly 9-10\n\n\n\n\nAn electric experience and a moving tribute to the Queen of Disco!\n\nA Boston girl with a voice from heaven\, Donna Summer soared to the stars from her beginnings in her church gospel choir to the pinnacle of fame as a dance floor diva. But what the world didn’t know was how she risked it all to break barriers\, becoming the icon of an era and the inspiration for countless female musical sensations who followed. \nThe Summer score features more than twenty classic hits including “Love to Love You Baby\,” “White Boys\,” “MacArthur Park\,” “Heaven Knows\,” “Bad Girls\,” “She Works Hard for the Money\,” “Hot Stuff” and “Last Dance\,” to name but a few. \nSummer and her music gave voice to that exciting\, wonderful time when no one knew what was coming next; a time when everyone was determined to dance their fears away before the sun came up and the “Last Dance” was over.
