US– Cuban Foreign Policy– What’s next?

February 12 @ 5:15 pm - 7:30 pm

Ambassador Everett Briggs,  Career US Diplomat

For 55 years, U.S.-Cuban relations evolved from open hostility to grudging acceptance by both sides of an uneasy status quo. It was marked by quasi-diplomatic relations and a porous “embargo”. As Cuba’s dependence on U.S. agricultural goods grew and American tourism demands increased, pressure developed from both sides of the US political aisle to “normalize” ties to Cuba by reestablishing full diplomatic relations. How has this new relationship worked out for in both countries’ and what lies ahead?
