Cellist Mairead Flory presents a clasical music concert

Cellist Mairéad Flory, 18, has performed at the Augarten Palais in Vienna, Austria, the Concert Hall of the Royal Conservatory in Brussels, Belgium, and the Concert Hall, Terrace Theater, and Millennium Stage of the Kennedy Center in Washington DC. She was the recipient of the Gaithersburg Young Artist Award and the Misbin Family Memorial Award.
Mairéad has been successful in many competition. She was a finalist at the 2017 Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra – Youth Concerto Competition. She won 1st Prizes at the Bland Competition, the Feuer Memorial String Competition, the Gretchen Hood Competition, the 1st Catholic University Young Musicians’ Competition, and the Washington Performing Arts’ Feder Competition. Mairéad has soloed with the Piedmont Symphony Orchestra, the Richmond Symphony Orchestra, the National Philharmonic, and the US Army Orchestra. Mairéad was a National Symphony Orchestra Youth Fellow for three years. Recently, she was selected to attend the 2017 National YoungArts Week, the premier US chamber music festival for young musicians.
Mairéad has participated in the Altensteiger Sommermusik Festival, the Kinhaven School of Music, the Heifetz International Music Institute, the National Arts Center’s Young Artist Program, Keshet Eilon, and is a scholarship student at the Meadowmount School of Music. Mairead studied with Viviane Spanoghe of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Brussels, with Amit Peled of the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, and is currently a freshman at Northwestern University where she studies with Hans Jorgen Jensen.
Mairead will be accompanied by pianist Chee-Hang See.
