Kristin Griffis was born and raised on Hilton Head Island. At the age of sixteen, her first job was at a hand-painted clothing store which filled orders from catalogs such as Newport News and Chadwick's. Four years later, she moved to San Francisco.

The first public display of her artwork was at the Barnes and Noble bookstore on Union Square. She was involved in the music scene and developed a passion for the design of musical instruments, especially the guitar.

In 2013 and 2014, she sold 2 paintings to Immaculate Baking, a subdivision of General Mills. The paintings reside in their Folk Art Museum and her art was used on the packaging for two of their products, one seasonal and one in their current line.

Her work is also included in numerous private collections across the US. Jazz pianist Martin Lesch’s cover art for his ‘Journey Through Jazz’ cd is Kristin’s painting “Piano Man”.

Kristin lives on Hilton Head Island, where her art is inspired by the music of her friends and "island life".
